Q: How far in advance do I need to book a session?
A: AES Photography may be available immediately, but two weeks in advance is preferred, allowing the clients time to review, discuss, and prepare using the information on the shoot preparations page. The list will help you to design the photos of your dreams. Photography is an art form based on the use of color, expression, mood, and themes. A good photographer is able to work around most flaws, especially when the client is prepared with the same basic knowledge on how these techniques are achieved. Back to Top

Q:How often do I need to update my portraits?
A: When people start asking what year the photo was taken. Generally speaking, when you feel your picture no longer represents who you believe you really are. Every four or five years on average is a good start for adults, and with children, we recommend every six months as the preferred time frame. Back to Top

Q: What should I expect during the consultation?
A: The consultation begins with a standard checklist review (CHECKLIST LINK). Then an open discussion of ideas follows to guide the direction of the session. Back to Top

Q: What should I expect during the photography session?
A: Once onsite, Andrew will present for final review and signature of the contract. The checklist will guide the session along, allowing progression through all of the client’s goals. Next, we will tour the locations in mind, and discuss the key points, flaws, benefits, and things to watch out for during the session. Free flowing ideas at any time during the photography session are always appreciated and will be incorporated to best meet the needs of our clients. AES Photography treats each session independently with the same goal in mind: to eliminate your weak points and enhance your strengths. Our job is to make you feel at home, relaxed and confident. When you feel that way, your photos show it beautifully. We can spot a fake expression a mile away and we will assist our clients to adjust their expression so that it comes out right. After the session, this is a complete review of every photo taken. These photos will be fresh from the camera with no alterations, with great shots along side the not so great. But as any artist knows and appreciates, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. So a shot that our photographer may not be technically happy with, i.e., out of focus, light levels, coloring, etc., the client may love the most. At this point of the session you may arrange for an additional service of photo retouching/re-shoot. The last phase is discussion on photo reproductions. Back to Top

Q: What should I wear?
A: Please visit the shoot preparations page. Back to Top

Q: Where does the photo session take place?
A: AES Photography offers on location photo sessions of your choice within most of the DFW metroplex, free of charge. If your session is required outside of the DFW metroplex, transportation costs and if necessary lodging, will be charged to the client on a full disclosure basis. Back to Top

Q: How do I prepare the children for the session?
A: Please view the information about children in our shoot preparations section. Children sometimes have challenges being posed, but may be coaxed during the session with treats if you are looking for a certain hard to obtain pose. Let Andrew know of acceptable instantaneous rewards for your child; examples: promised playtime at child’s favorite location, favorite food, healthy snacks (raisons, nuts, anything that won’t drip and make a mess of the child’s face), etc. Back to Top

Q: How are photo retouching/re-shoots performed?
A: You have the option for immediately after the photography session, to review your entire collection of photos taken in raw form. There may be some flawed shots you love, that can be easily corrected. If we are still on location, you can opt to re-shoot the pose or have the photo digitally edited as part of this additional service of retouching/re-shoots. On location re-shot photos may be treated as a separate session, at a discounted rate, since this is an easily abused service which could lead to a few more hours of work for the photographer. Digitally edited photos are subject to fees on a case by case basis dependent upon work or time needed. When you have made your final selections for either a re-shoot or a digital editing, we will perform the re-shoot, or if time permits (otherwise schedule) a retouching session with you, to digitally retouch your photo with you there. Q: How are photo reproductions performed?
A: The beauty of digital photography is that reproductions are as simple as the click of a button. You can order all of your photos online, in a variety of sizes, as well as different mediums such as cups or even t-shirts. If there is another medium that you are looking for, such as converting your photo to an oil painting, we can also provide these specialty services as well. Back to Top
